Creativity, Action, Service

Creativity, Activity, Service (CAS) is a mandatory core component of the IB Diploma Programme, whose purpose is to provide a framework to allow students to pursue personal interests while at the same time providing a balance from the day to day demands of the academic curriculum.

While the International Baccalaureate actively encourages as wide and imaginative an interpretation of the definitions of CAS, this component is structured to produce specific learning outcomes.

A student will have:

  • an increased awareness of their own strengths and areas for growth
  • undertaken and experienced new challenges
  • worked collaboratively with others
  • shown perseverance and commitment in chosen activities
  • engaged with issues of global importance
  • considered the ethical implications of their actions
  • developed new skills
