Bags To Dye For: Year 4 Explore Sustainable Fashion

At Nexus, we are all about embracing sustainability.

Nexus Year 4 Learners with their Indigo tote bags

In art, we have been exploring the world of natural sustainable dyeing with our Year 4 learners.

Natural dyes have a rich history rooted in ancient traditions and sustainable practices. They offer a remarkable opportunity to create art while minimising our environmental footprint. Using our onsite indigo vats our learners were able to get hands-on experience with sustainable dyeing.

Rather than supporting fast fashion and contributing to the cycle of consumption, we opted to dye reusable bags crafted from natural fibres that would be given out to members of the Nexus Community.

By sharing these bags with our community, we are not just creating art; we are fostering eco-friendly habits and spreading awareness of sustainable materials beyond our walls.

At Nexus, we believe in empowering our learners to become ambassadors for positive change. Nexus encourages learners to embrace their roles as ambassadors for positive change, amplifying their impact beyond the classroom.

It’s not just education; it’s about fostering a spirit of global responsibility and creating a lasting influence in the world around us.
