Susan Sanderson left the UK to travel after graduating with a BSc Biological Sciences with Biomedicine from Lancaster University, only to discover her true passion for teaching while volunteering at an elementary school in Cambodia. She has taught primary in international schools in China, Egypt, Kuwait and Dubai, developing a strong interest in the special requirements of bilingual classrooms. This led her to pursue and complete a Master of Education in Bilingualism in Education from Birmingham University. Susan joins the Year 2 team as Assistant Phase Leader after having taught Year 1 since joining Nexus in 2012. She is looking forward to moving to a new Innovative Learning Environment and developing this further with colleagues and learners. Outside of the classroom, Susan and her husband love to travel, albeit with a lot more luggage these days to accommodate their toddler and baby. And while her scuba equipment is currently gathering dust, she tries to squeeze in yoga and dance classes whenever possible.
