With over twenty years of experience, Dr Carmen is a committed, passionate and seasoned educator. Her academic qualifications include a master’s degree in Neuropsychology and a doctorate in Educational Leadership. She firmly believes that every child possesses unique gifts that contribute to their education. Dr Carmen’s educational philosophy is centred on nurturing self-expression and self-acceptance while celebrating diversity.
She has taught in Peru and China and envisions a classroom where every learner feels supported, valued, and integral to the community. She is passionate about creating a safe and caring learning environment that encourages learners to voice their thoughts and develop problem-solving skills according to their learning styles.
Beyond education, Dr Carmen is dedicated to assisting each child in realising their full potential. Professionally, she aspires to not only impact her students but also contribute positively to the entire school community, fostering a culture of collaboration and continuous improvement.
Outside of her career, Dr Carmen takes pride in her role as a mother to a young lady who works at NASA and is pursuing a PhD in astrophysics. Dr Carmen enjoys staying active and is interested in gym workouts and dance. This will help, in particular, with the many, many food options she has found in Singapore. She also finds joy in reading and exploring various topics to further enrich her teaching practices and personal growth.
