The Early Years curriculum at Nexus uses the prestigious International Baccalaureate (IB) Primary Years Programme (PYP), a globally respected framework that focuses on the holistic development of every child, nurturing not only academic growth but also social, emotional, and physical development. Our curriculum covers a wide range of subjects, from language arts and mathematics to science, art, and physical education, ensuring that each child is equipped with the skills and knowledge needed to thrive in the future.

Growing Through Fun

Play-based learning is child-directed, enjoyable and process-oriented. At Nexus, we create opportunities for learning through both structured and unstructured play, where children take the lead and engage with hands-on activities that reinforce learning, develop their independence and build their social skills.

When children engage in free play, they are allowed to explore freely without the fear of mistakes or failure. Guided by teachers who support the little ones in their exploration, this allows them to develop a love for learning with joy and confidence.

Specialist Teachers

Not only are our teachers experts in their subjects, they have a specialisation in Early Years education, allowing them to tailor their approach to our youngest learners.

Swimming

Through an interactive and play-based approach, our Early Years learners attend weekly swimming lessons that offer our little ones the chance to help them gain confidence in the water and master swimming skills, building both skills and a love for this essential life activity in a safe, supportive environment.

Music

With two music sessions weekly, children explore rhythm, melody, and creativity, laying the foundation for a lifelong appreciation of music and performance.

Physical Education

Our young learners explore movement as they develop coordination, strength, and motor skills as they discover the joy of movement.

Daily Foreign Language

With 30 minutes of foreign language every day, our young learners practise these language skills frequently, get consistent exposure to new languages, enhancing their mastery and broadening their understanding.

Art

Inspiring creativity and self-expression, children explore different mediums while developing fine motor skills and an appreciation for the visual arts.

Learning Lunches

Mealtimes become learning opportunities too as our learners enjoy free, healthy meals prepared in-house with the expertise of a nutritionist while practising table manners, communication and cooperation.

THE COMMUNITY CONNECTION

Children benefit greatly from a strong home-school connection. When the learning from school extends back to home, our learners have many chances to reinforce what they’ve done in class, boosting their sense of identity, independence, self-esteem and confidence. We also regularly invite parents to join our classes and contribute to projects from time to time.

Using the learning platform Seesaw, our teachers share classroom moments, providing parents with a window into their child’s day, making it easier to connect and celebrate their learning together.
