Abbie Melis
Abbie is Nexus’ Middle Years Programme (MYP) Coordinator and she is passionate about fostering holistic student development. She brings a wealth of educational experience and a deep commitment to the International Baccalaureate (IB) philosophy. She is dedicated to overseeing the implementation and enhancement of the MYP programme, ensuring that it aligns with the school’s mission and the IB’s core principles. She works closely with learners, teachers, and parents to create a vibrant learning environment that encourages critical thinking, creativity, and intercultural understanding.
Beyond the coordinator role, Abbie is also an IBDP History teacher. She holds a Master of Education in Advanced Studies in History, and has over 12 years of experience as a teacher and examiner of IBDP History. She believes in the power of inquiry-based learning and continuously strives to challenge and motivate her learners to take action that improves the global community.
Abbie is happy to begin her 15th year in Singapore. In her free time, she enjoys cooking, hiking and cycling with her husband and two daughters.
