School trips are some of the most unforgettable experiences of life at Nexus, providing immersive, hands-on adventures that bring learning to life. Through these residential trips, learners engage deeply with nature, local communities, and diverse cultures. By going completely tech-free, they disconnect to reconnect — discovering new perspectives, building friendships, and creating incredible memories that last a lifetime.
In line with providing authentic, real-life learning experiences, we bring lessons to life through trips as they interact directly with nature, local communities, and charities, deepening their understanding of various subjects through practical application. They also develop key social and emotional skills like resilience, confidence, and teamwork as they navigate new and challenging environments while collaborating with peers. This exposure to different cultures fosters globally-minded citizens that have empathy and respect for the history and experiences of diverse communities.
For our youngest adventurers, overseas trips begin close to home. By age 7, learners enjoy their first overnight trip, learning independence while appreciating their environment and understanding ecological concerns. Older primary learners participate in a three-to-four-day experience involving team-building, adventurous outdoor activities, and community service, such as installing clean water systems in Bintan, Indonesia, where they see firsthand the impact of simple technologies.
Our secondary trips take learners further afield as they grow increasingly mature and independent. In Year 7, they venture into Malaysia for outdoor activities in the rainforest. By Year 12, they are fully immersed in international service learning in Cambodia or on a trek in Nepal. Whether learners are camping in hammocks, engaging in high-adventure activities, or connecting with local communities, these experiences allow learners to test their limits and gain valuable insights into the world.
