Science Teacher (Physics)
Master's Degree in Advance Teaching (University of the People, Pasadena, USA) Bachelor of Education Science in Maths/Physics (Egerton University)

Phelesters holds a Master’s degree in Advanced Teaching from the University of the People, a Bachelor’s degree in Education Science (Mathematics and Physics) from Egerton University, Kenya, and an IBEC Certification from the University of British Columbia.

For the past eight years, she has had the privilege of teaching Physics and Mathematics to students in Years 8-11 in the IB Middle Years & Diploma Programmes, the iGCSE and A-level curricula in Kenya and Egypt’s beautiful capital of Cairo. She has supervised young researchers as they tackle their extended essays and personal projects, watching them discover their own capacity for inquiry and critical thinking. She has also enjoyed mentoring learners through their service-learning and was actively involved in community service through Global Encounters Camps between 2019 – 2021 – the global CAS initiative for the Ismaili community. She has coached novice teachers, helping them embrace the IB philosophy of teaching and learning and identify future professional prospects.

Phelesters’ teaching philosophy centres on bridging the gap between the invisible, microscopic world of physics and the everyday experiences of learners. She believes in using visual learning techniques and maintaining a classroom environment where every learner feels valued and can participate meaningfully and freely. After all, physics doesn’t have to be intimidating — it can be fascinating and accessible to everyone.

When not in the classroom, you’ll likely find her on a basketball court, in the gym, or in the pool. She is passionate about netball and dreams of traveling the world more extensively. She is a mother to one beautiful daughter.
