Originally from Canada, Rick has had the privilege of living and teaching in South Korea, Singapore, Denmark, and Vietnam, as well as in his home country. With nearly two decades of diverse teaching experience, including roles as a homeroom, EAL, and physical education teacher, Rick is excited to transition from a primary classroom teacher to an EAL teacher. His time as a homeroom teacher has been immensely rewarding, offering him the opportunity to connect deeply with learners from various cultural and linguistic backgrounds. He is now eager to embrace the challenge of working with a larger and more diverse group of bilingual and multilingual learners. Rick’s teaching philosophy emphasises fostering responsibility and independence in his students, preparing them to thrive both inside and outside the classroom. Outside of teaching, Rick enjoys staying active and travelling with his wife, continually enriching his understanding of different cultures and educational systems.
