YEAR 5-6 LEARNING HUB

Learning is not confined to four walls. Our Year 5 & 6 Learning Hub adapts to every learning style, offering quiet zones for focus, collaborative spaces for group projects, integrated Makerspaces, kitchens, and Design areas for hands-on exploration.

Walls that double as whiteboards

Currently closed, these whiteboards wall double as partitions as well as space to work on or project lesson materials. This is just one of the many ways we use versatile elements to increase flexibility in our classroom set ups. In this case, the classes are working independently but should the teachers choose to open the walls, they can combine their classes and co-teach, offering their learners the beenfits of two educators and the opportunity to collaborate with another class. Check out 6R to see this in action!

Kids using iPads

Starting in Year 5, learners start using personal iPads as essential tools in their daily lessons. As an Apple Distinguished School, Nexus integrates Apple devices into a cohesive, seamless ecosystem that enhances both teaching and learning. This use of technology allows learners and teachers to collaborate and share ideas easily – an example is the ability to airplay on the ViewSonic displays in the classroom and airdropping content with each other easily. Technology is certainly not just a simple substitute for traditional tasks — it’s a transformative tool that encourages creativity, research, and innovation.

RECIPE

At Nexus, RECIPE does not refer the average cookbook entry, but represents our core values!
This is something that we embrace in our classrooms and you'll see them featured in many different ways across the school.

Viewsonic

ViewSonic screens bring a new level of interactivity to our classrooms. With AirPlay compatibility, a built-in browser and speakers, it allows teachers and learners to easily showcase work, collaborate, and explore ideas together. The touch-screen function transforms the screen into a digital whiteboard, perfect for hands-on activities and notation. Its portability makes it easy to adapt to learning spaces on the fly. Each classroom has a dedicated ViewSonic screen – can you spot the one across the room?
