Our youngest learners thrive in their dedicated learning hubs that are crafted for exploration and play-based learning. From cosy reading corners to a fabulous outdoor garden with scooter tracks, water play and a playground, it’s a marvellous space for our Early Years learners.
Our learners have daily, free family-style lunches in our dining area that extend beyond a simple meal. They are actually learning opportunities as learners and teachers gather and discuss what's on their plates and encourage each other to be risk-takers by trying new foods. Lunches are full of laughter and conversation as learners pick up table manners and practise communicating while enjoying healthy and delicious meals with their friends. At the end, they help out by independently returning their trays as part of clean up.
Close to the dining area, we have an age-appropriate restroom for the learners, ensuring easy access when needed. These toilets are designed with child-friendly fixtures, creating a comfortable environment. The restroom is also equipped with handwashing stations for learners to practise good hygiene habits, reinforcing the importance of cleanliness.
Each Early Years learner has their own cubby where they store their belongings, promoting a sense of ownership and independence. This helps them develop age-appropriate self-management skills by encouraging responsibility while nurturing their sense of identity. Conveniently located near the homeroom entrance, learners can access their belongings with ease as they transition between lessons and spaces.
This flexible learning space is a multi-functional area perfect for music, physical health education (PHE), and foreign language lessons. Specialist teachers regularly visit to deliver engaging lessons, enriching our Early Years learners with their expertise. This space is equipped with an array of resources, including musical instruments, art supplies, and interactive technology, creating an environment that encourages exploration and self-expression. With interactive and hands-on exploration across various subjects, this space is ideal for experiential learning.
Throughout our learning hub, there are several doors that connect our indoor and outdoor spaces, facilitating smooth transitions and flows between lessons and activities. Learners are able to navigate around their surroundings with ease, reinforcing their sense of independence as they come and go during the day.
