Success for Nexus at Singapore National Swimming Championships
We are so proud to report the success of our Nexus swimmers at the 56th Singapore National Swimming Championships, which recently took place at the OCBC Aquatic Centre. This year was easily one of the most competitive yet, with powerhouse teams from Japan, Indonesia, and Canada joining the championships. Even with new rules capping the number of international swimmers in the finals, our Nexus squad rose to the occasion with grit, smiles, and some seriously fast swimming!
Small But Mighty: Our Junior Team
Our Juniors set the bar high from day one. With over 15 swimmers qualifying for the Nationals, Nexus has firmly cemented its spot as one of the top international schools for swimming in Singapore. Watching our youngest athletes push through four demanding days—from those chilly early morning warm-ups to the final evening cheers—was inspiring. A huge congratulations to our Junior Team!
Senior Success & Relay Drama
The momentum only grew as our Seniors (ages 13+) took to the blocks. Often racing against older, more experienced athletes, our swimmers held their own with incredible poise.
One of the highlights of the meet? The Girls’ Open-Age Relay! Our team made up of Monica, Victoria, Kinley, and Inga put on a masterclass, earning a Bronze medal. Finishing just behind world-class teams from Canada and Japan—and ahead of the Singapore National Team—was a massive statement about the depth of our talent here at Nexus.
Individual Brilliance
We are also proud to recognise our individual medal winners:
Miron secured three medals with outstanding personal best results
Momo earned a silver medal in the challenging 400m individual medley event and placed 4th in the 200m backstroke, an excellent accomplishment at this level of competition
Eva & Carmen competed for the first time in the Senior age group, these two were among the youngest in the 13/14 category but still dominated, securing Top 8 finishes in nearly all their races.
More Than Just Medals
While the new international athlete restrictions meant some of our fastest swimmers couldn’t progress to the finals despite their times, we couldn’t be prouder of their performances in the heats.
This level of success is the result of a strong, collaborative team effort. A huge thank you to our dedicated swim coaching team for being there before sunrise and into the late afternoons every day to guide our athletes. We also want to thank our teachers and the wider Nexus community as we know that balancing elite-level training with schoolwork is not an easy task at times, and your support makes it possible.
The Nexus Swim Team keeps getting stronger and we are so proud of how every athlete represented our school with pride and determination.
