A keen sportsman in basketball and swimming when he was younger, coaching others served as a springboard for Allan’s career into education. Sixteen years later, Allan has worked in a diverse range of subjects and schools, in Australia, England, Thailand and Singapore. With a passion to make curriculum links to physical and outdoor education, supporting learners to push themselves outside of their comfort zone to succeed is what keeps him going as a teacher. He is also an advocate for creating confident and independent learners, which is why the Year 6 Exhibition is always a highlight of his teaching year. At home Allan has two young boys to keep him occupied and is still looking for the secret in balancing his passion for fitness with his wife’s amazing cooking.
