A team of Year 5 and 6 Nexus athletes recently travelled overseas to compete in the 2026 FOBISIA Friendly Games, and what an incredible tournament it was! Facing off against top schools from across the region, our learners showed amazing sportsmanship and made plenty of new friends along the way.

The hard work started long before the competition weekend, with learners training multiple times a week since January across a range of disciplines including teeball, athletics, swimming and football. Their efforts truly paid off, leading to an impressive 2nd Place in Boys’ Football and multiple Gold, Silver, and Bronze medals across both Athletics and Swimming for our Year 5 and 6 team.

Beyond the podium finishes, our athletes threw themselves into every single sport with absolute dedication and pride. The journey provided a platform for immense personal growth. Learners who arrived with nerves left with newfound confidence, having learned to navigate the pressures of high-stakes performance and the resilience required to bounce back from setbacks. Our FOBISIA Lead, Mr Carswell, shared how proud he was of the team’s work ethic and the outstanding teamwork they displayed throughout the trip. He noted how our athletes acted as a cohesive unit, supporting one another through every triumph and challenge. As he put it:

“It’s not about winning or losing, it’s about the challenge and experience of competing at this level in an international tournament.”

Congratulations to all our athletes for stepping up and representing Nexus so brilliantly! A massive thank you also goes out to our incredible coaches for their guidance, and to our parents for their endless support from the sidelines. Watch the highlights from the trip below.
