Coach Adrian has been with Nexus since 2017, developing swimmers from the developmental stages to competing internationally. He holds a bachelor’s degree in Physical Education and Sports, and is currently pursuing a Master of Science at Nanyang Technological University (NTU). An accredited Master Coach in swimming under the National Registry of Coaches in Singapore, he has also been awarded Level 2 certification by the Fédération Internationale de Natation (FINA).
Coach Adrian believes in an evidence-based coaching approach that addresses both mental and physical demands. His coaching philosophy is: “Don’t count laps; make every lap count. What you do today is for a better you tomorrow.” Throughout his career, Coach Adrian has worked with the National Training Team and the Singapore Sports School, where he observed various training programmes conducted by world-renowned coaches such as Bill Sweetenham and Sergio Lopez.
Coach Adrian teaches the primary swimming classes and coaches the Senior Squad in the after-school programme. The Senior Squad includes several swimmers who are top-ranked both locally and in their respective countries. Members of the Senior Squad demonstrate a high level of commitment, with many choosing to pursue competitive swimming as a sport. The programme structure is based on the Long-Term Athlete Development (LTAD) model and the Athlete-Specific Model (ASM), tailored to individual goals.
Outside of coaching, Coach Adrian enjoys reading and diving. His aspiration is for swimmers to reach their full potential by embracing the training process and have fun!
