Learning Area Leader (Secondary) & Mathematics Teacher
Cambridge Trinity TESOL Certificate - Langside College, Glasgow Postgraduate Certificate in Education (Mathematics & French) - University of Strathclyde Master of Arts - University of Glasgow

James comes from Troon, a small town on the west coast of Scotland. From a very early age, he wanted to be a teacher, being keenly aware of the significant role a teacher plays in the development, nurturing and support of young people. In his twenty years as an international teacher, he has been grateful for the opportunity to help learners to develop academic rigour and an understanding of themselves, their ability to affect positive change in the world, as well as their social responsibility.

James is particularly passionate about helping others and working cooperatively towards international and intercultural understanding. He feels sure that Nexus is the perfect setting to continue that journey. Although he has been teaching mathematics at all secondary levels for over twenty years, James is always looking for new and exciting ways to present concepts through inquiry, in order to build enthusiasm, confidence and understanding for his learners.

When he’s not organising school discos or inter-school maths competitions, James likes to play golf, swim, watch Marvel, Godzilla and Star Wars movies, and he loves the numerous food options available in Singapore.
