Karen holds a degree in Computer Science and spent 14 years working in the IT industry. Through her experience with multinational companies, she developed strong adaptability in dynamic and fast-paced environments, along with a keen eye for data organisation, administration, and operational efficiency.

Beyond her technical career, Karen has always had a deep-rooted passion for swimming. She grew up as a student-athlete and began competing as a swimmer from a young age, developing a strong appreciation for discipline, commitment, and perseverance through sport.

After moving to Singapore in 2008, Karen continued her involvement in water sports through masters swimming, triathlons, and open water events. Her enduring passion for swimming eventually led her to pursue a career in coaching, allowing her to combine her love for the sport with her desire to support and develop others.

Karen first joined Nexus in 2022 before moving to Melbourne, Australia, where she coached high-performance squads at one of Melbourne’s leading swim clubs. She rejoined Nexus in 2025 and now continues to grow in both coaching and leadership, with a focus on contributing to the development of swimmers, coaches, and the wider swimming programme at Nexus.

Karen has also gained coaching experience with several prestigious international schools in Singapore and holds multiple coaching qualifications, including:
