Originally from Rochester, UK, Samuel began his teaching career in Singapore in 2014 and has worked across a range of English language and literacy contexts, including teacher training for adults across South and Southeast Asia. He has also taught MYP English Language and Literature, MYP English Language Acquisition, IBDP English B, and EAL learning support.
As an inclusive educator, Samuel places great value on collaboration, discussion, and learner voice. He believes that exploring texts through dialogue helps learners access, enjoy, and connect with literature and language in meaningful ways. He also encourages learners to discover how they best engage with different texts and genres, recognising that every learner’s relationship with reading and creative expression is unique. In the classroom, he aims to create an inclusive environment where learners feel confident to share ideas, think independently, and express themselves creatively.
Outside of school, Samuel is an avid Star Trek fan and a lover of theatre and musical theatre where he jointly hosts a podcast championing the Singapore theatre scene.
