Celebrating Sports Week 2026
As the final house points are tallied, the equipment is cleared away, and the face paint is washed off, it’s clear to everyone that Sports Week 2026 was about much more than just the results. It was a week defined by team spirit, a bit of healthy competition, and a lot of fun.
From our youngest in Nursery to our Year 10s, learners took on a range of challenges designed to test their skills and, more importantly, remind them of the simple joy of getting involved. We saw the “classics” like sprints, long jump, and long-distance running, but we also saw learners dive into team sports with mini-tournaments in basketball, football, and netball. A standout favourite for Primary was the obstacle course, a chaotic but wonderful mix of hurdles, egg-and-spoon balancing, and scooters!
It wasn’t just about the physical side, either. Having our older learners step up to help marshal the younger ones was a highlight, giving them a chance to practise leadership and coaching in a real-world setting outside the classroom.
Getting into the House Spirit
A huge part of the week is the chance for learners (and staff!) to really lean into their House identity. With points up for grabs at every station, the campus was a sea of Angin, Api, Ayer, and Tanah colours. As each of the Sports Days went by, the energy shifted toward the big scoreboard, where groups of learners kept a close eye on the latest point totals, eagerly asking for updates as they plotted their House’s path to the top. The conversation continued into the next morning as learners spotted the live House Points totals changing on their way to class.
Sport for Everyone
At Nexus, our goal is for every child to feel they have a place on the field. We take immense pride in our high-achieving athletes who train year-round to shave seconds off a relay time, but we are just as proud of the learner who steps out of their comfort zone to finish a race for the very first time.
Sport here is inclusive by design. It’s about celebrating those who want to run fast, while making sure every learner feels involved, active, and supported by their peers.
A Community Effort
None of this would have felt the same without the parents who came along to cheer. Having families on the sidelines brought a great sense of community to the week, and seeing the learners work together for their Houses reminded us why these events are so central to life at Nexus.
