Celebrating the IBDP Class of 2026: Rostik

This year, our 2026 graduates achieved outstanding results in the International Baccalaureate Diploma Programme (IBDP), with an impressive average score of 35.7 points—well above the global average of 30.88.

15% of learners scored 40 points or above, and 62% scored 35 points or more, placing them among the world’s top-performing IB learners.

As a cohort, they also achieved results that were, on average, 4.3 points higher than their initial predicted grades at the beginning of the programme.

Among these exceptional achievers is Rostik, who achieved a perfect score of 45 points.

Achieving a perfect score of 45 in the International Baccalaureate Diploma Programme (IBDP) is an incredible accomplishment, but for Rostik, success was built on much more than academic achievement. Throughout his time at Nexus International School (Singapore), he embraced every opportunity to learn beyond the classroom, combining academic excellence with leadership, entrepreneurship and international competition experiences.

He will now continue that journey at Bocconi University in Milan, where he will study International Economics and Management.

For Rostik, one of the biggest strengths of Nexus was the opportunity to grow both academically and personally.

“My teachers were always supportive, but they also pushed me to become more independent.”

That independence became one of the defining parts of his IB experience. Alongside his studies, Rostik embraced a wide range of opportunities, representing Singapore at the Junior Achievement Asia Pacific competition in Japan, competing in international business and entrepreneurship competitions including the ESSEC Marketing Competition, Conrad Challenge and Wharton Global Investment Competition, and taking on leadership, service and academic initiatives. 

Balancing these commitments required strong time management, organisation and self-discipline, while helping him develop practical skills that extended far beyond the curriculum. Looking back, he believes these experiences brought his classroom learning to life.

“I was able to explore my interests in business, economics, entrepreneurship, leadership and problem-solving in a much more practical way. Those experiences helped me build confidence and made what I was learning in class feel much more real.”

Among Rostik’s favourite subjects were Business and Economics, both of which helped shape the path he is now pursuing at university.

Economics stood out because it encouraged learners to think critically about the world around them rather than simply memorising theory.

“I liked how the subject connected directly to real events because we were not just learning theory, we were learning how to interpret what was happening around us.”

Business complemented those lessons by giving Rostik opportunities to explore how organisations make decisions, develop strategies and respond to challenges. Being able to apply those concepts through competitions and projects outside the classroom made the learning even more meaningful and confirmed his ambition to pursue International Economics and Management.

While competitions and academic success played an important role in his journey, Rostik says it was the people around him who made his time at Nexus truly memorable.

One of his favourite memories was Junior Achievement, where his team created Greentopia, won the Singapore competition and represented the country in Japan.

Beyond the competition itself, it became an experience that shaped lasting friendships and unforgettable memories.

“The IB can be very intense, so having close friends and people around me who supported me made a huge difference.”

Throughout his years at Nexus, Rostik built strong relationships with teachers who each played an important role in his journey. Business teacher Mr Jim nurtured his passion for business, while Ms Susan created an Economics classroom where discussion and curiosity thrived. His tutor, Mr Kinlan, provided consistent guidance throughout the IB, while Ms Vu, his Theory of Knowledge teacher and Extended Essay coordinator, left a lasting impression through the time and care she invested in helping him succeed.

“Over my time at Nexus, I have been lucky to build a lot of great relationships with teachers, and each of them helped me in a different way.”

Whether it was providing detailed feedback, making time to answer questions or even discussing his Extended Essay during the summer holidays, Rostik says their encouragement gave him the confidence to keep improving.

Rostik will soon begin the next chapter of his journey at Bocconi University, where he looks forward to combining his interests in business, entrepreneurship and economics through an international perspective.

As he prepares for university, his advice to younger Nexus learners is to embrace every opportunity available to them:

“My advice to other Nexus learners would be to explore their passions beyond the classroom and make the most of the opportunities Nexus offers. There are so many ways to get involved, whether that is through competitions, leadership roles, service projects, sports, performances or student-led initiatives, and I think those experiences can shape you just as much as your subjects do.”

Rostik’s IB journey reflects so much of what we value at Nexus: academic excellence, resilience in the face of challenge, and a deep commitment to personal growth.

As Rostik prepares to begin a new chapter, we have no doubt that he will continue to thrive and inspire. We are incredibly proud of all that Rostik has achieved and are grateful to have been a part of his journey.
