On the 8th of December, we saw the return of the much-anticipated Christmas fair, “Nexmas Around the World,” organized by the Nexus Community Group. This year’s event aimed to celebrate the magic of Christmas, our incredibly diverse cultures at Nexus, and the unwavering support of our vibrant community.
The school was decorated to a whole new level this year with some of the most elaborate decorations being crafted to reflect our theme of Christmas around the world. With seemingly impossible designs, a huge thanks goes to the team of parents that spent countless hours crafting in the parent lounge to make sure the school felt as magical as possible.
Fun-Filled Activities for All Ages

Nexmas Around the World saw the return of old favourites like Santa’s Grotto – a highlight for many! Parents and learners got the chance to meet Santa in Level 4’s very own grotto and elf workshop. We were so thrilled to welcome younger primary learners earlier in the day and to read a Christmas story with them in the most magical place in Nexmas!
Learners also had the opportunity to cool off and take a plunge into the dunk tank, as well as burn off some energy in our “Elflatables” room. We were also extremely lucky to have the PHE department step in and host their very own “Elflympics” for the learners on the field. Thank you!
Alongside the sporting events, we had plenty to keep our community entertained. Our festive bazaar was filled with book & toy stalls, external vendors, learner-led charity stalls and for the first time, families had the chance to order personalised baubles. NCG volunteers prepared and crafted over 200 baubles that were then collected at the fair.
Encouraging the next generation of crafters, level 3 of the school became an arts & crafts workshop with cookie decorating, Christmas cracker making and pom-pom making to name just a few activities! Level 3 was also home to face-painting where our team of trained parents granted children’s Christmas wishes to look like their favourite festive features!
Despite so many returning activities, this year Nexmas also made room for new areas such as our very own “Elfabet Kindy“. Here, our youngest learners got involved in a whole host of festive activities, specially laid out for them in the beautifully decorated EduVation hub. From playdough to crafts, it was a haven for our little elves!
Older learners weren’t left out with the Nexus Scavenger Hunt going fully digital this year and taking learners all across the Christmas Fair to solve clues. We also welcomed hundreds of food donations from the Nexus community which were then sold across the event.
Musical Performances

Festive cheer rang loud for all to hear with music performances by our extremely talented learners, not to mention the incredibly jolly “Pri-merry” choirs and ensembles. Last but by no means least, Nexus Community Choir took to the stage for their debut performance. The group of parents sang three festive numbers that they have been rehearsing in-school over the last few weeks. Thank you to the wonderful Music department for supporting us!
Thank You to the Nexus Community
Such an exceptional event wouldn’t have been possible without the tireless efforts of the parent volunteers, whose commitment and enthusiasm elevated the fair to new heights. Teams of parents, both new and old, have been meeting for weeks to organise the event and their fresh ideas, coupled with the dedication of returning parents made for an exciting event across the whole school. It was particularly encouraging to see so many new parents offer to help in the running of the event with new parents taking on key roles including co-chair for the Christmas Fair committee as well as heading up areas like fair decorations and organising vendors. Thank you to everyone who gave up their time, whether it was an hour or 100 hours so help us put this event on. It was magical to see so many families taking time to enjoy this event together and we hope you all enjoyed it as much as we did.
We would also like to extend a huge, heartfelt thank you to the incredible Nexus staff whose unwavering support in the preparation and execution of the fair made it a resounding success.
“Nexmas Around the World” wasn’t just a Christmas fair; it was a testament to the power of community, the spirit of togetherness, and the joy that comes from celebrating diversity.
We were extremely happy to collect spare tokens which will be donated to the Blue Dragon Children’s Foundation. The charity helps children who are in crisis situations such as slavery, human trafficking and extreme poverty. We will update you in the new year with final amounts to be donated.
Lastly, the NCG would like to thank everyone who attended the event. Without you, these events wouldn’t be what they are and they truly make Nexus a special community to be a part of. We wish everyone who will be celebrating a very merry Christmas, and we look forward to organising more fabulous events for our community to enjoy in the new year.
