Nexus Hosts the Lion City Fair 2025
The Lion City Fair 2025 was a huge success!
It felt like a landmark moment for us as a school to be able to welcome representatives from over 160 top universities all over the world onto our campus to get a true sense of what Nexus is all about.
As a school, we follow the Nexus RECIPE in all that we do – Respect, Excellence, Communication, Integrity, Passion and Enjoyability. Each of these elements was evident at the university fair yesterday when our learners engaged with the university representatives. The Year 11-13 learners worked hard to research universities and undergraduate programmes. They arrived at the fair equipped with questions about IB requirements, college essays, tuition fees and student visas. Such planning helped to ensure the event was a meaningful learning experience for everyone involved.
The Sports Hall was buzzing with enthusiasm and energy from the start to the end of the event. Upon reflection, Australia and the UK were likely our most popular destinations with queues of learners lining up to speak with the University of Melbourne, University of Sydney, Imperial College London, King’s College London, Durham University and Queen’s University Belfast. Bocconi University in Milan also drew the attention of many of our learners, along with other top European universities such as University College Dublin, IE, ESSEC and the Royal College of Surgeons in Ireland.
We are so grateful to the many Nexus parents and guardians who carved out time from their busy schedules to join us for the event and to support their children as they begin to make important decisions about their lives after Nexus.
As the universities were leaving the fair, there were so many comments about how the representatives shared purposeful and enjoyable conversations with our learners from Year 10-13. It’s safe to say that they will be looking forward to returning to Nexus again next year for Lion City 2026!
Key Takeaways from Lion City Fair 2025
We learned about the latest admissions trends with many of our learners asking about updated visa requirements in both the US and Australia. Opportunities for international scholarships were discussed as well as ideas about how to strengthen applications and improve college essays. Here are some key takeaways from the event:
Canadian universities are still welcoming international students.
In the Netherlands, apply for accommodation once you hold a university offer.
Many schools in the US are still test-optional (SAT or ACT), but learners must research this requirement for each specific institution.
Bocconi University awards 90-95% of its places in the first two admissions cycles.
There are a broad range of English taught programmes in Spain.
Durham University recently won the title of UK University of the Year 2026.
Learners should check English proficiency requirements in advance for Australian student visa applications.
A huge thank you to everyone involved in the organisation of this event!
