Celebrating Our 2025 IGCSE Learners: Prada
We recently celebrated the outstanding achievements of our Year 12 learners in their 2025 IGCSE Results. Their resilience, determination, and hard work have led to incredible success both in and out of the classroom. Their success reflects the dedication, resilience, and curiosity we strive to nurture at Nexus.
This year, 52% of all Cambridge IGCSE grades were A or A*, and 55% of all Edexcel grades were 9–7, the equivalent of A*–A. Overall, an impressive 54% of all grades achieved were A*–A or 9–7, with the most common grade in English and Mathematics being an A* or 9/8.
One of these learners was Prada, who achieved 6 A*–A or 9-7 grades in the 2025 IGCSEs.
Prada joined Nexus in 2021 and is now in Year 12. She is passionate about drama, having chosen the subject to build her confidence and step outside her comfort zone, and also enjoys exploring history and economics for their real-world connections. Beyond academics, she has embraced opportunities such as performing on stage at Chinese New Year and serving as an Innovation Ambassador, where she helped create a chatbot for the school website.
We caught up with Prada to talk about her results, how she prepared for her exams, and her journey at Nexus so far.
Could you introduce yourself?
My name is Prada, I am in Year 12. I have been at Nexus since Year 9.
Which subjects did you take for your IGCSEs, and why did you choose them?
For IGCSE, aside from my core subjects, I chose economics, history and drama. The reason why I chose Drama was because I was interested in acting and also wanted to build my confidence, and walk out of my comfort zone.
Regarding economics and history, I chose them as I found them interesting, and thought it would be beneficial to learn.
What inspired your subject choices? Was there a particular experience, teacher, or moment that influenced you?
My drama and individual societies teacher inspired me to take drama and history.
How did you approach preparing for your exams? Do you have any tips or strategies that might help other learners?
To prepare for my exams, I tried out many strategies such as the Feynman technique, blurting and flashcards. In the end, blurting, flashcards and practicing exam questions worked out quite well for me. As I frequently take notes after each lesson, it helps me remember content in the long run. As a result, there was no hardcore revision closer to the real exams.
In what ways has Nexus supported you in your learning journey and helped you to achieve success?
Nexus has provided helpful resources, and the Drama workshops really helped with developing ideas for my drama pieces. For example, I really enjoyed the workshop where we had to create a piece from scratch. This was where we had a stimulus, such as a news article, and we had to pick out lines and think of how we would act it out. We experimented with different levels and pace that created different effects, and we used these in our final devised piece.
