Nexus Wins Big at EDUtech Asia 2025
Recognised for Purposeful Innovation and Leadership in Digital Learning
We are proud to announce that Nexus International School (Singapore) has been recognised at EDUtech Asia 2025 with two major awards:
Best AI Innovation Strategy Award (K–12)
Outstanding Educator Award (K–12)
As Asia’s largest education technology conference, EDUtech Asia celebrates schools and educators who are leading meaningful innovation. This year’s shortlist featured outstanding finalists from across the region, including Singapore, Malaysia, Hong Kong, China, and beyond — making Nexus’s double win an incredible achievement and one that reflects the creativity, care and collaboration of our entire community.
Thoughtful Innovation in AI and Learning
At Nexus, technology is never used for convenience alone. Guided by Taylor’s Standards for Digital Excellence and our Three Rs – Relevant, Responsible, and Resilient, we ensure that every digital tool we adopt deepens learning and wellbeing.
Guided by the Nexus Way, which centres on Innovation, Mindsets, Relationships, and Inclusion, the school’s AI strategy ensures technology serves to amplify creativity, critical thinking, and ethical awareness.
The Best AI Innovation Strategy Award recognises Nexus’s commitment to integrating AI meaningfully into teaching and learning, in ways that enhance connection, creativity and critical thinking. From AI-powered feedback tools that help teachers personalise support, to learner-led projects exploring AI ethics and bias, every initiative is designed to make technology serve education, not overshadow it.
At Nexus, AI is integrated thoughtfully across three key areas:
1. Enhancing Learning Outcomes (K–12)
AI-powered tools adapt to each learner’s strengths, challenges, and pace, providing tailored, real-time feedback and support while maintaining the crucial role of the teacher.
Primary School: Our focus is on building strong foundations. Tools like Writer’s Toolbox blend explicit teaching with safe, guided AI support. Children receive friendly, visual feedback as they draft, helping them reflect on and improve their writing in a closed, protected environment. For mathematics, Matific provides a research-based, adaptive platform that adjusts to each child’s needs.
Secondary School: Learners use AI to engage with complex, real-world science. Projects include pulsar star detection through machine learning and AI modelling for improved radiotherapy, demonstrating learners using AI to conduct sophisticated scientific inquiry.
Across all stages, learners engage in experiences like coding and design: Primary learners use block-based programming to create games and build early computational thinking, while Secondary learners apply design, coding, and entrepreneurship in experiences such as the Arduino Escape Room challenge.
2. Using AI Tools to Enhance Operations
AI automates routine processes like attendance, timetabling, and resource management, freeing teachers to focus on impactful teaching and mentoring.
Tools such as Gemini and Flint.ai support teachers directly with lesson planning, research, and professional collaboration. This focus on operational efficiency ensures that our educators have more time to cultivate strong relationships and inclusion—core tenets of the Nexus Way. Staff micro-learning sessions, such as AI for Flipped Learning and Cognitive Outsourcing, further ensure that technology supports pedagogy, not the other way around.
3. Fostering Digital Citizenship
We ensure learners engage with AI not just as users, but as thoughtful creators and ethical citizens, exploring the societal implications of technology through age-appropriate programmes.
Primary School: Digital citizenship is built through genuine inquiry. Children use augmented reality to bring scientific ideas and stories to life, and they connect with the wider world through experiences like Skype a Scientist, fostering global perspectives and seeing how technology facilitates real-world research.
Secondary School: Programmes like Fasten Your Seatbelts offer imaginative dialogues to explore complex ethical themes. Sessions like AI Art and Digital Amnesia spark powerful discussions on bias, identity, and the line between creativity and automation. Partnerships with organisations including NUS, Morgan Stanley and the Financial Times further extend this learning — connecting classroom innovation to global practice.
This integrated approach is exemplified by a unique cross-disciplinary project where Year 10 and Year 5 learners collaborated to reinterpret Stuart Little through AI-generated art, blending literature, ethics, and design thinking in a powerful demonstration of wholeschool collaboration.
Celebrating Outstanding Educator: Mr Shoaib Raza
We are also thrilled to celebrate Mr. Shoaib Raza, our Director of Digital Learning and Entrepreneurship, who received the Outstanding Educator Award (K–12). This award recognises educators who inspire innovation and impact across their school communities.
“A school thrives when its community embraces innovation together,” says Mr Raza. “These awards reflect not just individual achievement but the collaborative spirit that defines Nexus.”
Mr. Raza has been instrumental in developing Nexus’s successful, balanced AI strategy, grounded in his philosophy that technology does not replace teachers; it amplifies them. His commitment to empowering both learners and teachers with responsibility and care has defined our digital culture.

A Community Committed to Future-Ready Learning
These latest achievements follow recent wins including the HoneyKids Gold Award for Digital Technology in Learning and the APAC Business Insider Awards for Best Future-Ready Architecture Learning Experience 2025 – Singapore and AI Innovation Strategy Excellence Award 2025.
Together, they affirm Nexus’s position as a leader in purposeful innovation, where digital learning goes hand in hand with creativity, well-being, and global citizenship.
At Nexus, every innovation begins with purpose. By combining cutting-edge tools with a deep commitment to wellbeing and ethical literacy, we are preparing our learners, from Primary to Secondary, not only to adapt to the future, but to shape it.
